Roofing Repair London - Gutters

The gutters at roof level guide the water flowing off of the roof to the rainwater downpipe. Roofing Repair London can work on your plastic gutters, cast iron gutters or flinlock concrete gutters. Should the gutter become broken or blocked with leaves and other debris then the gutter cannot function as it should. This may lead to water running over the back of the gutter and down the house wall which will cause the wall to become damp and may affect the interior of the wall.

You will not be disappointed.

Gutter Maintenance

The size of the gutter is calculated based upon the anticipated rainfall. Cleaning and maintenance of your guttering ensures that rainwater is properly routed away into the rainwater collection system, so it is essential that your gutters are kept free of leaves, silt and other debris.

We can clean and repair your guttering; leaving it free of all debris and able to do it's job.

Water that runs over the front of the gutter is not properly routed away from your building's foundation.

Installing new guttering and associated components is a job that will eventually need doing on all properties as the guttering takes the water away from your house and will take a great deal of punishment as it deals with the British weather.

We can install new guttering to your specification.

Have you considered having a water butt so you can recycle the rainwater onto your garden?

Gutter Terms

The fascia board is the one mounted at the point where the roof meets the outer walls of the house and is often called the ROOFLINE. However, most people refer to it by the name of the main board that carries the gutter - the fascia. Unfortunately, not many people are familiar with these terms, so we thought you might appreciate a few words of explanation.

Fascia

The fascia board is the long, straight board that runs along the lower edge of the roof. The fascia is fixed directly to the lower ends of the roof trusses and usually does all the work of supporting the lower edge of the bottom row of tiles. The fascia board also carries all the guttering. This is no mean feat, especially when it is raining hard. In a downpour the roof of a 3-bed semi could be washing several gallons of water per second into its gutters.

Bargeboard

This is the board that is used on the gable end of a house.

Soffit

The soffit board is tucked away under the fascia board. It is usually the board that you see most of from street level. The soffit can be ventilated to allow the flow of air into the roof area. Alternatively, ventilation can be provided over the top of the fascia board. Many people prefer the latter solution these days. Without adequate ventilation, condensation will form in the roof void increasing the risk of timber decay.

Boxend

The Box End accommodates the many different angles, planes and heights of the fascia, soffit and bargeboard at each corner of the house where there is a gable end.
